Summary
Play therapists often use props (which may include a sandtray, miniature characters, bubbles, balloons, dolls, etc.) to help children work through or resolve difficult traumatic experiences (such as sexual or physical abuse, domestic violence, death of a loved one, divorce, natural disasters, or violent crimes). This new book, written by an emerging leader in the field of play therapy, will combine a flexible theoretical model with a step-by-step treatment plan for using these evidence-informed interventions in practice with traumatized children.
Author Biography
Paris Goodyear-Brown is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a Registered Play Therapist-Supervisor specializing in the treatment of traumatized children and their families. She has an international reputation as an innovative and inspiring speaker and has authored a number of books, chapters, and articles contributing original play therapy interventions to the held. In addition to her clinical practice and research pursuits, she provides play therapy supervision and consultation to a variety of agencies, serves as adjunct faculty for Vanderbilt University and Trevecca Nazarene University, and guest lectures for other academic programs around the country.
