Author Biography

Jim Cole is a native Rhode Islander who grew up along the banks of the Pawtuxet River in Cranston, Rhode Island. His interest in canoeing began as a teenager with the Boy Scouts at Camp Yawgoog. Jim is an American Canoe Association certified canoe instructor and has taught both canoeing and kayaking for Baer's River Workshop and Paddle Providence in Providence. He is also a past president of the Rhode Island Canoe/Kayak Association and has written many articles for the club's newsletter. Jim also had an article published in Boat Pennsylvania, detailing his experience on a Class II whitewater canoeing trip.
