Kate Oates designs unique and colorful knitted garments for her website and online store Tot Toppers--a site whose content is tailored for babies and small children. She also designs hats, scarves, and more knitware for an online shop called When I Grow Up, which is hosted by knitting and crochet hub, Ravelry.

Designing and knitting hats and garments for children is near and dear to her, and Oates' work always reflects a whimsical, playful spirit that's so alive in young kids. She strives to add specifically to the growing collection of knits for boys, as she has four of her own! You can find her patterns at your local yarn store or online.

Oates is the author of Knitting Clothes Kids Love, published by Creative Publishing international. She also does freelance work for a variety of publications.
