Author Biography

Barbara Ramsay Orr is a freelance journalist, author of the Frommer’s Guide to the Niagara Region (Wiley) and a lifetime resident of Ontario. Her work has appeared in many national and international publications, including Chatelaine, Canadian Living, The Globe and Mail and Readers Digest. She is the local expert on Niagara Falls, Niagara-on-the-Lake, and Wine Country for Nile Guides, and is developing a travel app for Niagara Falls. While she has visited and written about exotic destinations, from Thailand to Norway, her heart belongs to her hometown province. She has biked the trails of Niagara, swooned to the actors at the Stratford Festival, and fattened up on artisan cheeses at the Mennonite markets in St. Jacobs. She’s an unapologetic foodie who loves to search out the special gems at farmers’ markets and discover authentic cafes and wineries in the area. She’s also an accomplished award winning photographer as a well as a struggling (but enthusiastic) water colour painter. You can follow her adventures at www.upperendtravel.com
