Summary

In 1992 Thinkers' Press published "C.J.S. Purdy's Fine Art of Chess Annotation and Other Thoughts, Vol. 1" compiled and edited by Dr. Ralph J. Tykodi. Then came the Purdy Library as Vol. 1 went quickly out of print. Former world chess champion Bobby Fischer said that Purdy was the best chess teacher in the business. Now his writings are brought before the public to remind us once again. Purdy, an Australian, began writing and analyzing in the 1920s long before anyone else. Yet, no one could touch him for clarity and genius. In 1953 he became the first world correspondence chess champion! He continued publishing his "Chess World" into 1967. International Master Robert Jamieson said that Purdy's "secret was that his magazine was the only one in the world that set out to actually teach its readers how to play better chess." The first 25 games are world championship games. The next 25 are grandmasters in conflict while the last 50 are master-level combat from his friends Down Under. Book jacket.
